Fix Forward and the Fix It Cart

Fix Forward was developed to foster a repair mindset in primary and secondary school students. The initiative offers opportunities for children to develop their interests, skills, and confidence as they become the repair champions of the next generation.

The focal point of instruction is the Fix It Cart — a mobile unit equipped with child-friendly, age-appropriate tools and materials organized to meet the needs of children. The carts are specially designed to function in a school setting.

The Woodland Hill School newsletter covered the Fix Forward program: Fostering a Repair Culture.

Fix Forward and the Fix It Carts are models of what’s possible when an energized and engaged repair community collaborates with energized educators.

The Fix Forward resource includes two parts:

  • Lesson plans, activities and slide shows centered around Fix-it-Carts.

  • Supply lists and detailed plans to build and equip Fix-it-Carts.
