Culture of Repair Guest Author Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Culture of Repair Project’s “Notes from the Field”, a series of posts by educators and repair advocates involved in teaching youth about repair. Our purpose is to create a space where people can offer vision, advice, information, and reflections, creating a network and ongoing resource for others.

In addition to inviting individuals to make thematic contributions, we welcome self-initiated submissions. (For scholarly and reflective contributions about repair more generally, please consider submitting to “Reflections on Repair”.)

“Notes from the Field”

This resource is a series of posts from advocates and educators involved in one way or the other in teaching youth about repair. The purpose is to create a space where people can offer vision, advice, information, and reflections, creating a network and ongoing resource to support educators and advocates:

  • To establish new programs,

  • To expand and enrich existing programs,

  • To situate programs in the strategies, tactics and actions of others in the repair movement, and

  • To be informed by the conceptual framing of scholarship — both of repair and maintenance scholarship and educational scholarship.

“Notes” will be featured in newsletters, socials and direct emails, and will live indefinitely on the website in an easily searchable format.

Content:

At the most basic level we invite you to write about:

  • What you think is important to say.

  • Your vision.

  • What you did.

  • How you did it.

  • What happened.

Here are some details that would make your post most valuable to others:

  • Your vision for why teaching repair matters and what you hope to accomplish

  • What: What you did/do, your curriculum, project, or program

  • Who: Who you are and who you collaborated with

  • How: methods, tools, community involvement - we want to hear how to bridge school <> community advocates, too

  • What you experienced: surprises, challenges, lessons learned

  • Advice or resources for others who want to do similar work

  • Plans going forward.
