Fix-It Fests are large community repair events hosted by BUSD.
The purpose of this survey is to see whether there are people in the community interested in contributing materially to helping host future events.
History:
We have held five Fix-It Fests as of February 2026, each four-hour event involving approximately 70 volunteers and 200 participants.
The teacher on special assignment for Climate Literacy lead a team of six community volunteers and another teacher to host past events.
This summer the District eliminated the Climate Literacy position, and two members will be on maternity / paternity leave.
Without substantial additional help we cannot host the event.
We’re looking for 3 - 4 people to join the team.
Requirements:
Strong organizational skills
A collaborative mindset
What it involves:
We zoom for an hour every 2 - 3 weeks, and weekly in the month preceding the event. Tasks are completed between meetings. See below for examples of tasks.
We are an experienced team; we work together well; we know what we’re doing.
We do not know when the next event will take place.
We’re not answering questions now, just collecting names of people who would like to hear more when we have more information.
If you’re interested in joining the team, and have strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset, please let us know by completing this Google FORM.
